SuperSonic Imagine Equips the Paris Radiology Institute (IRP) with 9 Aixplorer® Ultrasound Systems
Aix-en-Provence, France, July 23rd, 2014. SuperSonic Imagine, (Euronext: SSI, FR0010526814), a company specializing in ultrasound medical imaging, is proud to announce the installation of nine Aixplorer ultrasound systems at the Paris Radiology Institute (IRP). These systems were delivered in June and therefore are included in the 1st semester revenue figures reported today.
Founded in 1970, the Paris Radiology Institute, has always keenly followed technological progress and strived to make the latest innovations in medical imaging available to its patients. It was the first private outpatient center in France to have a scanner back in 1986.
The Paris Radiology Institute has utilized two dedicated breast screening areas since 2006. These feature three latest generation 3D digital mammography units – one of which is equipped for macro biopsies – and eight dedicated ultrasound units, including one that is used for interventional mammary ultrasound. The results can be reviewed and shared by doctors from any of seven units. Doctors from the Paris Radiology Institute offer all types of imaging, including conventional radiology, ultrasound, vascular, CT, MRI and bone density readings.
For the managers and doctors of the Radiology Institute, the choice was simple. “We have a team of 38 radiologists who excel in breast imaging. We were looking for an advanced ultrasound system providing high quality images and featuring breakthrough innovations to reinforce our senology ward. The Aixplorer by SuperSonic Imagine allows us to use ShearWave™ Elastography, which improves the precision of exams carried out by radiologists.”
The Aixplorer, which has been on the market since 2009, is the only ultrasound system equipped with real-time ShearWaveTM Elastography which is available on all transducers sold by SuperSonic Imagine for various clinical applications. This innovation provides physicians with quantitative information on the stiffness of tissue in a reproducible and noninvasive manner. This can be extremely useful in the detection and characterization of lesions for the diagnosis and monitoring various pathologies involving the breast, liver, prostate, thyroid and others. It also reduces the number of needless biopsies.
As Yves Tenaglia, Vice President of SuperSonic Imagine Europe, explains: “It is an honor for us to be chosen by the Paris Radiology Institute, a preeminent center that stays at the forefront of imaging technology and progress. Our ultrasound system is not only easy to use, allowing radiologists to work comfortably and more productively, it is also highly advanced and innovative.”
